Evidence-based education to help you understand and relieve your pain.

Explain Pain® is a researched and tested strategy. It teaches modern pain science through re-conceptualizing pain to be a protective response that has many contributing biological, psychological, emotional, and social components.

Group content is drawn from the Explain Pain® books.

You’re Invited

Explain Pain® Groups are open to anyone with a desire to learn more about how pain works, explore their Pain Story, and start drafting a new narrative in a safe, supportive environment.

How it Works

  • Groups are offered on an recurring basis for a specified duration.
  • Attendance and active participation is encouraged at all group meetings.
  • Registration is required and offered on a first-come first-serve basis, limit of 15.
  • Groups will be recorded and emailed to registrants for a limited review period.

Support Our Mission

Explain Pain® Group meetings are offered free of charge. Tax-deductible (US) donations to Pain Story Project, a 501(c)(3) organization, are not required but greatly appreciated. Recommended range: $60-$180.

Accelerate your recovery by discovering the latest science about how pain works, why it persists, and what you can do to reduce or eliminate it. Then, examine, update, and positively advance your pain story using this current knowledge.
