Core cirruculum: PERSISTENT PAIN

These fundamental classes are offered on a rotating basis every few weeks. It is recommended that you take them in the order outlined below.

What is pain and what role does it serve?

When we hurt, we often don’t reflect on the true essence of pain or the larger part it plays in the body. Learning these valuable insights may be just what you need to change your perspective and recover.

How does pain work?

Many of us are unaware of how pain works, but just know that we hurt. However, gaining an appreciation of your pain system can provide new tools for relief.

When do we have pain?

Pain is a calculated output of the brain which occurs when the assessment is made that you are under threat and need protection. Fortunately, we can shift the balance to safety. Find out how in this class.

Where, in what context, does pain occur?

Everything matters when it comes to ongoing pain. This refers to the all the circumstances surrounding your pain experience from your location to your beliefs, culture, mood, and much more.

Why does pain persist?

When pain continues there are many physiological changes that happen which raise our sensitivity to pain triggers. Discover how to turn down the intensity of your pain in this class.

Who are you in relation to your pain?

Finally, we’ll examine how your new understanding of pain has altered your mindset about it. Thus, empowering new behaviors, outcomes, and stories.
